Hi

Tuesday, November 19th, 2002

*Yawn* A good nights sleep in my bed… not a bus or a $30 hotel room in Georgia…. You can’t ask for anything better than that. I feel pretty good. But I register for class today… That can tend to make things go down hill. The class I was planning on taking over winterim (winter break semester) is already closed… and after only one day of scheduling… poop… Ohwell… I can take it this summer. Hope everyone has a great day… and I will let you all know how scheduling went later!

I’m Back

Monday, November 18th, 2002

Hey everyone… Wow is it impossible to catch up on everyone when you have been away… You should all stop posting while I am gone as a sign of mourning… and that way lazy old me doesn’t need to read so much! I had a great time. There were about 15,00 people at the protest… That is over 5,000 more than the previous year. It was great to see people ranging in age from babies to at leat 90 years old. A huge crowd of very different people united for one cause and it was fun! Hope everyone had a great last 4 days… sorry I wasn’t around! :smile

Buh Bye

Political Me?

Tuesday, November 12th, 2002

I don’t often speak of political things on my blog. But I believe that my trip to Georgia this Thursday through Monday deserves at least a little explanation. I am going to Ft. Benning, Georgia to protest the School of the Americas, now known as the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation. I will not be getting arrested, because I will not be crossing the line. If you have never heard of this school you can read about it at the SOA Watch website or the WHISC website. The two sites above are the most biased sites in each direction. SOA Watch is specifically against the WHISC, and the WHISC website is the website of WHISC. So read what you want and believe what you want. If you want a very brief description of some of the reasons I am going you can click the more button.

Boys, boys, boys!

Sunday, November 10th, 2002

As a future elementary education teacher I am extremely happy that in most cases the percentage of boys vs. girls in the class isn’t too dramatic and that it is usually close to 50-50… I plan on teaching 4th grade or under… Boys at those ages are horrible when they are together in large groups. My current religious education class is 7 boys and 2 girls… It has been and continues to be a true challenge. Today, however, J was lucky enough to get to see how horrible/almost funny if it wasn’t inappropriate children at that age can be. We went to a local burger/ice cream place for lunch. Behind us was a table of about 7 boys, all around 2nd grade, the youngest probably being in kindergarten. Their parents were at a table nearby. Anyway, one of the older boys randomly decides to say “I know that boys have hot dogs and girls have hot dog buns.” EXCUSE ME!!!!!! ahhhh I don’t know what I would do if one of my own children said that. Just a few minutes later a younger brother of one of the boys tried to kiss his brother and some of the other boys started discussing something about if he was a “lesbian” because of that… Needless to say I was shocked… Once again… Thank God that a classroom dynamic is normally very different!

*UPDATE* Everytime I read this entry it makes me think that I have children due to the way I worded it above. I don’t have children yet. All children of mine are referring to future children! :smile
