Ok now for the stories that would have made most brides fall apart and break down into hysterical sobs….
Hair: I have very stubborn hair. When I went in for my practice updo the hairstylist spent 6 hours working on me only to decide we needed to try again another day… So we rescheduled and the next time around went fairly well… She was now familiar with my hair and what I wanted so there were few problems. Wedding day, 10:00am…. I go in for my appointment and she gets started… after a few runs to the bathroom she pulls up a chair to work on my hair because she isn’t feeling well…. after another few minutes she says she has to go home…. Yes my stylist walked out in the middle of my hair appointment on my wedding day. Well other stylists had to pick up the slack and by the end I had about 5 different people work on my hair…. It turned out good in the end but I could just picture other brides hysterically screaming at the poor sick stylist as she walked out….
Tux’s: The tux’s came in other Thursday… Jason and my dad got in right away… They measured Jason immediately after he got home from Germany… when he had been eating less and walking more than ever… he said he would gain weight by the time of the wedding but no one, including me, believed him enough to care…. so he tries on his jacket and it is too small… my dad’s shirt was too small and his pants too big… they order new ones and say they will be in by tomorrow… Friday… Jason’s dad’s pants were too short… They sent Jason the same size jacket…. Groomsmen #1 had too small of a shirt and groomsmen #2 had too short of pants…. So they do it all again… this time they say they will be in the day of the wedding by 10:30…. they were there and they fit…. but it was a little stressful to leave Jason Friday night knowing he didn’t have a fitting tux yet….
Photography: About a week before the wedding our photographer called and said she would REALLY like to take pictures before hand because we had a tight schedule afterwards (my parents don’t like it when you have to wait around for the bride and groom forever after weddings) So after agreeing to see each other before hand and arranging for the flowers to come early etc…. We were prepared to have pictures at a local park at 1:00… Well we get there and unwisely hadn’t set a very specific location… just the park… we park thinking the photographer would probably find a bunch of people in dresses and tux’s… So all the sudden a photographer runs up to us and starts screaming that we said we would meet by the baseball fields and that all her stuff was there and that we needed to get over there right away and she was just generally yelling and freaking out… I, who hadn’t seen my photographer in over 6 months thought she looked unfamiliar… but hey, I was being yelled at… I wasn’t about to get myself and my 10 foot long train back in a car and drive to where her stuff was… I decided it was just easier to walk… so I, with my maid of honor in tow… trekked about 300 ft or so to where she was… when we got close I saw another bride and I just knew that this photographer had made a mistake… As I was thinking this in my head I see our photographer walking over to me…
I had a big sigh of relief as I told her what had happened and how happy I was that I didn’t have a mean photographer… The other photographer never even apologized…
Vows: Jason and I memorized our vows… the priest believed that you shouldn’t repeat your promises to each other because you should know what you are promising… I agreed… So it comes time to say the vows and Jason does wonderfully… I started out fine but then said “for richer, for poorer” before saying “for better, for worse” but I just put them in the wrong order and continued… I said them all… just in the wrong order…. Not a big deal but a little flustering in the moment…
Well that’s it for now… I think that covers most of the big things…
Pictures and more stories to come I am sure…
My favorite part of the photo fiasco was the “wrong” photographer hijacking your sister and making her drive around the parking lot and then ordering me to get a clipboard from her car. Too funny!
