Well with all the election talk I decided to give my two cents… I am fairly middle of the road politically… My beliefs tend to stray more towards the Democratic end of things, however. I”m not even sure what I want to say here…. I think.. that mostly I am disgusted with people on both ends of things after this election.
First of all… people who vote Nader and then complain about Bush winning should not complain. I applaud people for sticking to their beliefs and voting for the candidate that matches those beliefs… but if that vote takes away votes from a person who has a chance of winning whose views are kind of close to yours also… then why vote for the person and help the opponent win… Generally Democrats are closer to Greens than republicans… so by voting Green you essentially vote republican which doesn’t make much sense to me…
UPDATE: It is fine if you vote for Nader under the realization that it means Bush will most likely win… I am just upset with the people who think they can innocently vote for Nader and it will not hurt Kerry… If a person would rather have Kerry over Bush than they should vote for Kerry because otherwise you are helping Bush win. I also don’t agree with the fact that our country only offers us two not very good choices… but it doesn’t look like it will change anytime soon, so in the mean time I would like the person who best represents my values and can win to win… and I will do what I can to ensure the person who least represents my values stays out of office…
Next… if you think the world is ending and you must move out of the country then do it… The economy lags in response to legislature… so, the economy we saw the last four years was more a result of Clinton than Bush… we will see the start of Bush’s economy in the next four years…
And that brings me to another thing… Most of what happens… happens through the LEGISLATURE… not the executive… So worry and complain more about who is taking seats in the Senate and House… Believe it or not… That makes a bigger difference…
And last but not least… More than half the people in the United States voted for Bush… No they were not only stupid southerners… If you truly believe that over half of our voting population is stupid then I think we have bigger problems to worry about than Bush….
