Memorial Day

Today seems like an appropriate day to congratulate Vatti on his retirement after 30 years in the Army Reserves… :)

And thanks to everyone else who has served and their families… :)

Iowa

Iowa smells especially Iowan today….

See I come from Wisconsin, I am not a foreigner to the smell of farms…. but in Wisconsin you generally only smell that smell while passing farms… but in Iowa, sometimes it seems the whole state smells that way…. or at least the whole city I live in. It is especially noticeable after driving home from Wisconsin with the windows up and then getting out of the car here in Iowa…. or on a day like today… when it is going to rain…. Most places when it is going o rain you just get an earthy smell…. here you get the farm smell….

Letters, we get letters….

While I was visiting family in Wisconsin last week I was a good girl and had our mail on hold so our little mailbox wouldn’t overflow…. I said to start delivering again on Monday…. Monday there was no mail… Tuesday there was a cardboard flyer…. Wednesday, no mail…. Thursday, no mail. Now we all know how neurotic I am about mail…. But getting only a flyer in two weeks is pretty unusual…. so I went to the post office and asked if my mail was being delivered…. he said sorry and handed me a huge stack of mail… which contained 5 bills and a letter for Jason…. Gee thanks post office!

While the J is away the Deb will play….

There are some new friends in the Verber household…..

Random thoughts during my five hour drive….

-When Jason and I are 30 we will have been together for half our lives
-Even though birds always seem to be immune from getting hit there were tons of dead birds on the road…. I think the huge wind gusts may have had something to do with it….
-Seeing dead animals with collars is not cool!!!!!!
-Seeing dead animals is not cool!
-Lots of people are stupid…

Life as we know it….

Well J is off to Germany for two months…. he will be back on July 18th… I am currently visiting my family and friends in the Wausau area… It is nice to be here but it will be even nicer to be home… with my kitties. And without J I will be able to sleep diagonally accross the bed… probably the only benefit to him being gone…

Tonight I went to the Wausau West Pop Concert…. wow it made me feel old… Freshman will graduate in 2008…. they were born in 1990…. Pop concert was good though… it always makes me happy… I always hate the women’s choir and I always love men’s choir…. This was my 7th (i think) pop concert…. I slept outside for tickets for 3 years…. I was there the second year ever that anyone slept outside…. Jason was there the first year… Pop concert has some tradition and energy that is just good…

Abbie and I decided why we can’t and shouldn’t teach high school though…. we still think some of them are attractive… and well you shouldn’t think those things about your students… :) They are all at least 5 years younger than us…. so we will probably outgrow that soon…. but I will still never want to teah high school… give me first grade any day!

Well I hope all is well in everyone elses lives…. I don’t comment much… but I still read my blogroll at least once daily… sometimes once an hour… :)
