So I usually don’t do resolutions… which is what EVERYONE says… but really I don’t… But this year I decided to try a challenge… The 50 book challenge to be exact.
So I have already finished two books… before I even started talking about this…
The first book was “The Namesake” by Jhumpa Lahiri
This was our January book club book. I enjoyed this book but didn’t love it. It was interesting to learn more about Indian, specifically Bengali, culture… but the writing didn’t pull me in as much as I had hoped. There were parts of the book where I though, Why is this included…? Overall I would recommend this book, it might be hard to get through at times but the interesting parts do outweigh most of the not interesting parts.
Book Two was “the curious incident of the dog in the night-time” by Mark Haddon
I loved this book. It is our February book club book. I was able to read it in one day! I think I am particularly drawn to it since I am a teacher and a teacher who has always been interested in “Special needs” students. Haddon does an awesome job of getting into the head of the character Christopher, there are times you seriously need to look at the front of the book to remind yourself it is a novel and not a true story. I recommend this to everyone, and SUPER RECOMMEND this to anyone with autistic/aspergers children, or even if you know any…
