Walks and more…
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008So today I mowed he lawn, front and back… the front seems to grow at like 1/3 the rate of the back so it doesn’t need to be done as much… then I walked Penny with Rachel, James, Booker and Bella… Came home and relaxed for about 20 minutes… then took Lucy for a walk by herself… the separate dog walks work much better… the little mutts feed off of each other… James was nice enough to take Penny for a while and keep her at heel, since she hurts my back when I try.. Lucy stayed a heel very nicely for me… we have upgraded our walk from 1.3 miles to 1.6 miles, not a huge difference but Penny definitely felt it…
Ok…
Monday, May 5th, 2008So we (Lucy and I) went to bed at a fairly normal/early time last night and then slept in very late for us, 8am… We are usually up before/around 7… She is sitting on the love seat now and can barely keep her eyes open… the walk and interaction with the kids must have done her in… I do know that a short walk with me is often more tiring for her than a long walk with Jason… I walk SLOWLY, which takes a lot of mental work for her to stay with me etc…
“What is the hole for?”
Sunday, May 4th, 2008Rachel and I took the dogs for a walk today, the following are some paraphrased conversations we had with neighborhood kids.
K=kid U=us
K: What is its name?
U: Lucy
K: Oh what a nice boy
K: Are you sisters?
U: No we are friends
K: Do you always walk your dogs together?
U: No just sometimes.
K: Are they all boys (after asking all their names)
U: No only one is a boy
K: Is that lonely for him
K: (Lucy was walking in front of them with her beagle tail up over her back) Why does that one have a hole?
Other Kid: That is where it poops
K: Why don’t the others have holes?
U: Their tails are down.
K: Can I walk your dog?
U: No they are very strong.
K: What do you mean they are strong. (followed by lots of begging)
