There is a lot of discussion going on over some new animal ordinances in my old home town and the newspaper comments are taking the brunt of the stupid and intelligent arguments… This person rubbed me the wrong way.

i understand puppy mills are a problem and i dont like them any more than you do Courtney. But instead of making ordinanaces they can be dealt with on a case by case basis. This is like still like punishing responsible pet owners who love their pets and actually take care of them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with how many pets you have as long as they are all healthy, taken care of, and dont disturb the neighbors. Is having 1 terrior the same thing as having 1 rottweiler? i think not. I think that the size of the dog should play a role as well as the kind of dog. For instance, ban Rottweilers.

1. People complain that the cops have better things to spend their time on than chasing cats, well handling things on an individual basis as opposed to a blanket ordinance would take more time.

2. THE BIG ONE: You say there is nothing wrong as long as the animal is healthy then you mention terriers versus rottweilers… (sounds like that individual basis argument doesn’t apply to breed you consider scary)

• First of all terriers can be bigger than rottweilers and just as vicious. If not properly trained or taken care of
• The whole issue with judging by breeds really ticks me off… Yes, certain breeds are more prone to certain character traits, but no breed is inherently dangerous or vicious. If a dog is properly trained and socialized it will treat all humans as lower than it in the pack, and will therefore not attack a human….
