When it rains, it pours…

So we finally have a dry basement and hot water. Lots of vaccuuming hours and a dehumidifier solved the problem well…

But…

Yesterday around 4:30 pm, Feeny comes upstairs and trickles a little blood onto the dogs pillows… I quickly call our vet, they say drop him off in the morning… I then make the mistake of hitting the internet, it says that if your male cat is peeing blood it is proably a urinary tract infection, and that in male cats there is often crystals that cause a blockage which can lead to kidney failure and death within 24 hours… well since we had been out of town for 5 days I wasn’t sure how long he had been not feeling well and started to panick… I called my vet back and they said they couldn’t see him that night since they were closing but they gave me the number of the emergency vet they recommend… So we take him there, they do an ultrasound and don’t see any crystals but they can’t get a urine sample because his penis is too small to put a catheter in (we won’t tell him that, and I am sure I will get some interesting spam/google searches on this post)… So they said he would be fine for the night and we could take him to our vet tomorrow and they put him on antibiotics… So today I drop him off at our vet (at 7:30am) it took them until 3pm to get a urine sample… they said there was some bacteria but everything else looks good… they gave him antinflamatories to help his bladder feel better and said he could go home…

So $350 later we have a crabby 25lb cat that I just had to give a pill to, with Jason’s help… I’m glad he is ok and glad we had the spare money this month… although I think family will just have to expect hugs from Feeny for Christmas since he just used a nice hunk of spending money :)

It will be a gift that keeps giving… through cuts, and stitches and maybe even therapy… :)

Thats to bad to hear about Feeny. I had to go through that with Max and it is very scary, because you only have so much time and no one seems to care about getting the animal
seen. Glad to hear he is okay.

Poor kitty. Glad he is better. What a welcome home for you. We had the broken water heater thing a few years ago and it is not fun!!

  5. Deb-you’ve been a busy girl! Glad Feeny was OK. I have to confess I did snicker a little about the small penis. I am still twelve. If you’re twelve that is pretty funny.

Having water in your basement is horrible!! Water ruins everything as we all well know. I hope none of Jason’s or your stuff was ruined beyond repair.
