Today Feeny and Tigger both went to the vet for the first time here in Iowa…. I was a little nervous about it because Feeny has gotten progressivly more crabby with each vet visit. He was freaking out the whole time getting there and very crabby while we waited. When we put him on the table he hissed and fought like crazy… but the vet here wasn’t afraid of him like our old vet seemed to be… so he just did what he had to do and held Feeny in ways that kept Feeny from biting him. It is kind of nice that he can handle Feeny and we won’t need to give him sedatives or anything just for routine vet visits…
Feeny has been getting these wierd little black dots on his chin lately… I asked the vet about them and he said it is feline acne… Feeny must officially be a teenager, the vet suggested using something like stridex pads to help take care of it…
Oh and the best news for last. We asked the vet specifically about Feeny’s size and what an ideal weight for him would be. Feeny weighed in at 23lbs… Actually a little less than we had thought. The vet said that Feeny is just a big cat. He is healthy and muscular…. and just big. He said he could lose a few pounds and be ok but healthwise it wouldn’t make that much of a difference. Tigger weighed in at 10.5lbs… Feeny has 13lbs on him yet Tigger insists on starting fights…. we always knew he wasn’t very smart.
So how did you all bring in the New Year?? We brought it in with what I like to call “happy family time” Happy familiy time is when we both grab a cat…. then go lay in bed… Sure Feeny screams bloody murder and Tigger looks really afraid…. but we are together…
Happy 2005 everyone… Lets hope everyone’s year is filled with many Happy Family Times…
Jason and I always mention how other people’s cats just seem like cats… but our cats seem different, more human. I think that this post at Lawrence’s helps explain that a little bit. Each cat has so many unique things they do that you can only see if you spend 24hours a day with them… the way they sleep when they are really tired… as opposed to how they sleep when they nap…. the reactions of their tail when they see a bird… or in Tigger’s case, when he gets an idea. When I say that Feeny talks to walls it doesn’t mean the same thing to someone who hasn’t seen or heard it… and when we tell someone about how Tigger is an alarm clock in the morning…
Its hard to explain but I think in the end it is the justification us animal lovers have for spending way too much time and money on our pets… they aren’t pets to us… they are more…
Jason just got off the phone with Deb. I’m sure she probably wanted to talk with me or Tigger, too, but Jason wouldn’t let her. Anyway, after more than 24 hours of driving she and her friends are at their hotel in Florida. I just thought I’d keep you guys posted!
Yup… Feeny won a Dork Of The Year award this morning… head over to his site to see why!

Instead of responding on her blog Kim responds on your blog… so her comments seem off topic sometimes… but they are just a response… here is an example from a comment on my blog.
3. Find the shortest comment you can find.
T left a comment at Maria’s which isn’t even one word long… so hahaha I think I beat you all!
4. Find a comment in any blog dealing with BlogSnob, Blogrolling, Name That Blog, or some other blog-related service (hint, Maria posts these kind of comments in people’s blogs after they join BlogSnob.)
Here is the comment our great friend Maria left for Kim welcoming her to Blogsnob!
