He starts school again on Tuesday so it just seemed like a good idea to celebrate on the weekend. He took me out for brunch… Then we went to see The Phantom of the Opera and had dinner afterwards… It was a nice day. :)

Phantom was really good. I have seen it on stage twice and totally love it… I wasn’t sure what to expect from the movie but overall it was great. There is something about the music in that show that just gets to me…. I always get the chills when I see it performed… The phantom in the movie wasn’t the best I have seen but he definitly didn’t ruin the music or anything….

This Christmas has been one of my best ever I think…. It has been nice just being able to relax and hang out with family… that and it is mine and Jason’s first Christmas married to each other… :) I recieved so many wonderful presents this Christmas… here is a partial list that should include at least the big stuff

Dyson animal vacuum(sp?)
Sizzix machine and accessories
Air filter (one where you don’t change the filter just clean it)
Scrapbook stuff
Rare Dean Koontz books
The new Dean Koontz book
Quarters for laundry
Kitty stuff….

Needless to say I am very blessed as is evident from the list… There are several things on that list I didn’t think I would be getting for quite a while yet…. Hope everyone had a great Christmas… Jason and I are heading home tomorrow so blogging may or may not become more regular after that…. :)

Jason and I spent the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday visiting our parents and family up in Wisconsin. It was a fun weekend. Wednesday I spent the day helping my sister set up her new laptop (which means I got my old one back) and having dinner with my parents while Jason caught up with old high school friends at a party…

Thursday was the main event… We spent the morning watching Harry Potter III and convincing Frank (Jason’s family’s turkey) to finally reach 180 degrees… Around 1 he warmed up a little and we enjoyed a great Thanksgiving meal #1… Then it was of to my house for Thanksgiving meal #2… the turkey there was unnamed… but we almost had a crisis when Sassy (my parents dog) didn’t have a chair at the table… But never fear I was offered cranberry goo… Just as I am every single year since birth… and just as I have, every single year since birth, I told my parents I don’t like it… :) Ahhhh traditions… Then it was back to Jason’s parent’s house for some good old reliable cut throat competition with a dose of fun thrown in… We played spades and hearts and had a good time winning and losing…. :)

Friday we had lunch with an old high school friend and then hit the road for the six hour drive home to two kitties who hadn’t been loved in three days… Friday also marks an anniversary for Jason and I… If we were still dating (instead of being married) it would have been our seven year anniversary… :) What better way to share it than with family and friends in the morning and two needy kitties at night… Now if only we could have skipped that drive in between… :)

I don’t like high school…. I’m just not cut out for it… It is actually easier… there is less work at the high school level… But I just can’t handle the disipline (sp?), the lack of care that they have… the PDA’s in the hallway… the baggy pants…. all of it… I didn’t like high school kids that much when I was one and I don’t now… But let me at those kindergarteners again!!! So that is high school bad…

Husband good… Before I started subbing I had been doing a lot of the work around here…. as far as laundry and dishes goes… but now that I have been a little busier J has been doing what he can when he can to help out… it is great coming home and seeing the pile of dishes gone and a load of laundry in the dryer… He also made shortbread cookies last night… I think they were really good but he didn’t like them as much as he likes the ones that he buys for snacks….

I think that this post at Lawrence’s helps explain that a little bit. Each cat has so many unique things they do that you can only see if you spend 24hours a day with them… the way they sleep when they are really tired… as opposed to how they sleep when they nap…. the reactions of their tail when they see a bird… or in Tigger’s case, when he gets an idea. When I say that Feeny talks to walls it doesn’t mean the same thing to someone who hasn’t seen or heard it… and when we tell someone about how Tigger is an alarm clock in the morning…

Its hard to explain but I think in the end it is the justification us animal lovers have for spending way too much time and money on our pets… they aren’t pets to us… they are more… :)

We will get to see a performance of Chicago… tickets courtesy of my wonderful in-laws… :) We are seeing it shortly after Paige Davis left the cast and just before Wayne Brady joins the cast… but I am excited and thrilled to get to see it anyway… :)
